Foundation is the most important item of make-up you will ever purchase, and while the right formula can erase years from your face, the wrong foundation can also add years.
Why is foundation so important? Essentially, foundation can make your skin appear flawless and natural. It can cover imperfections and smooth out an uneven skin tone. Unfortunately, foundation can also be one of the most difficult products to choose correctly.
When choosing foundation there are two things to consider - firstly, matching your skin tone and its depth level, so that the foundation looks natural. The second is to match your skin type with the correct foundation formula, whilst considering if you have oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin.
{the goal of foundation is to look as if you're not wearing anything at all}
Types of Foundation:
* Liquid - is the most popular foundation and is suited to most. Liquid foundation gives varying degrees of sheer, medium and full coverage, depending on the brand and the formula. My favourite liquid foundation is Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination skin, in the colour true beige.
* Creme - is smooth to apply and is formulated for normal to very dry complexions. It gives your skin a natural finish and offers full coverage. The only issue with creme foundation is that it can appear cakey on the skin if it is not blended correctly. A great creme foundation to try is Natural Glamour Foundation.
* Mousse - is much like creme foundation, with a whipped consistency. This lightweight foundation provides even coverage and is formulated for normal to dry skin. Mousse textured foundations sink into the skin rather than sit on top of it. A good choice for mousse foundation is Revlon Photoready Mousse Foundation.
Foundation also comes in stick form, powder forumlas, tinted moisturzer, mineral powders and aerosol spray.
