How To : Apply Make-Up According To Your Eye Shape

Eye make-up is one of the most effective ways is brightening up  your look, as well as  excentuating your eyes. An important factor of eye make-up is the shape of your eye which can affect the look you are trying to create.

Almond Eyes: Most eyes are shaped like an almond nut. Almond eyes are very exotic and are easy to accentuate. To accentuate this eye shape, the trick is to use darker shadows to contour the crease and add depth. Begin by applying a soft shimmery beige from the lash line to the brow bone. Then sweep a matte chocolate brown into the crease using a windshield-wiper motion. Blend thoroughly and apply matte black liner that's slightly flicked out at the end to exaggerate your naturally extended shape.

Hooded Eyes: Hooded eyes have one eye fold or crease. With this eye shape, you should aim to create an illusion of depth. Those with hooded eyes should opt for flattening matte colours, as shimmer may result in a puffy look. Apply a deeper-toned matte shadow where the crease would be, making sure you blend away any harsh lines. Finish by smudging some of the same shadow along the lower lash line and topping it all off with mascara to open up the eye and make it look larger.

Large Eyes: Use deeper matte shades to tone down large eyes so they don't appear too intense. Shimmery shades can catch light and open up the eye, which would make the eyes appear larger. First draw a thick line on the top lid with a black pencil. Then use a pencil-shaped brush to smudge it into the lash line and over the lid. Use the same liner on the lower inner rims, connecting the top and bottom line on the inner and outer corners to close up large eyes even more.

Round Eyes: The round eye has a circular shape and is typically large in size. To soften it and create a more exotic appearance use an eye liner. Play down the roundness of the eye by only lining the upper lash lines and extending the tails out to add length.

Small Eyes: The trick to making small eyes look larger is to make lines look slightly blurred. Lining around the eyes with a black eyeliner pencil is key, focusing more on the outer corners. Then smudge it with a Q-tip for a softer effect.

Droopy Eyes: Whether the result of aging or genetics, droopy eyes can leave you looking sad and aged. There are ways to perk up sagging eyelids with the proper placement of your makeup. Begin by applying a light shade of shadow on the inner corner of the lids. Next lift the eyes by sweeping a brown shadow in the creases. Apply a sweep of black liquid liner on the upper lids while slightly lifting the line at the ends. By applying a light shade to the inner corners, deepening the creases and flicking up the liner at the ends, you are instantly creating the illusion of more lifted, more awake eyes.

Who Wore It Better?

With our eye always on the latest celebrity fashions, the style watch evolution has hit prime time. With television shows such as the E! network's Fashion Police, we are all fasinated with who wore what. But sometimes, celebrities are caught out wearing the same desinger duds.

So I ask you, who do you think wore it better...?

Sleek and oh so elegant, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mylene Klass stepped out both wearing Michael Kors. I personally prefer Gwyneth's version better, but do think Mylene's complexion compliments the dress.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree with this dynamic duo. Like mother, like daughter Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner must have traded outfits for a night, both spotted out wearing this gorgeous red lace Valention dress. For my personal taste I think that Kim wore it better, but will say it is also age appropriate on Kris.

Caught out both wearing the same street style, Miley Cyrus and Frankie Sandford from the UK girl group The Saturdays, both sported this striped pants. Designed by British label Motel, I think the girls look great. I love Frankie's toned down outfit and think it is much more easy to wear.

Product Knowledge : Foundation

Foundation is the most important item of make-up you will ever purchase, and while the right formula can erase years from your face, the wrong foundation can also add years.

Why is foundation so important? Essentially, foundation can make your skin appear flawless and natural. It can cover imperfections and smooth out an uneven skin tone. Unfortunately, foundation can also be one of the most difficult products to choose correctly.
When choosing foundation there are two things to consider - firstly, matching your skin tone and its depth level, so that the foundation looks natural. The second is to match your skin type with the correct foundation formula, whilst considering if you have oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin.

{the goal of foundation is to look as if you're not wearing anything at all}

Types of Foundation:

* Liquid - is the most popular foundation and is suited to most. Liquid foundation gives varying degrees of sheer, medium and full coverage, depending on the brand and the formula. My favourite liquid foundation is Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination skin, in the colour true beige.

* Creme - is smooth to apply and is formulated for normal to very dry complexions. It gives your skin a natural finish and offers full coverage. The only issue with creme foundation is that it can appear cakey on the skin if it is not blended correctly. A great creme foundation to try is Natural Glamour Foundation.

* Mousse - is much like creme foundation, with a whipped consistency. This lightweight foundation provides even coverage and is formulated for normal to dry skin. Mousse textured foundations sink into the skin rather than sit on top of it. A good choice for mousse foundation is Revlon Photoready Mousse Foundation.

Foundation also comes in stick form, powder forumlas, tinted moisturzer, mineral powders and aerosol spray.

One Star, Two Looks.

Too often celebrities transform and change their looks but tend to be known for one signiture style. Here are a few celebrity looks that display opposing features, whether a signiture style or transitional look.

(I have placed a heart next to the looks I prefer for Nikki Reed, Britney Spears, Sarah Hyland, Chloe Moretz, Peta Murgatroyd and Naomi Watts).

Review : Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Huge on the scene during 2012, the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is a fantastic eyeshadow palette that everyone should own. Seeing as Urban Decay is not currently sold in Australia, I have finally got my hands on this bad boy.

The palette was a gift given to me for Easter, but was late on delivery. The Naked 2 Palette includes 12 eyeshadow colours, a double-ended eyeshadow brush and a lip gloss.
The purchase was made from Beauty Bay (http://www.beautybay.com/ - $53.40 AUD) and was a first purchase from the site. Positively, the item arrive within the scheduled delivery time and also came with the option of free delivery. However, the palette was missing the eyeshadow brush and took over two weeks to replace. Nevertheless I now have all the pieces included in the palette.

The eyeshadow range is amazing, with a mixture of matte colours and shimmery shades. I love that the palette displays a range of neutral colours in white, cream, brown and black, but also has an extensive range of complementing colours to create an appealing eyeshadow look. The shadows are very pigmented and have an amazing colour pay off.

(The eyeshadows inlcude: Foxy, Halfbaked, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted and Blackout)

The double-ended brush consists of a shadow brush for application and a crease brush for application and blending into the crease of the eye. The Lip Junkie Lip Gloss is a further addition to the palette and is a travel sized option to carry around with you.

Dress To Impress : Job Interview

Although many would be afraid to say it, first impressions do count!

We hate judging people by the way they look but when we are faced with only a small window of time to make a great lasting impression, we need to put our best foot forward. A job interview is a prime example where we need to make the best impression possible... and fast. Showing pride in your appearance can demonstrate to a potential employer that you are well put-together, organised and would be a great addition to their team.

Although it goes without saying that securing the job inevitably comes down to your qualifications and interview skills, but looking the part definately doesn't hurt your chances.

It's important to keep a few fashion don'ts in mind when preparing for the right interview outfit:

NO Cleavage
NO Microminis
NO Moon Boots or Sky-High Platforms
NO Skintight Leather
NO Ripped, Tattered or Stained Clothing
NO Bra Straps, Panty Lines or Excessive Piercings On Display
NO T-Shirts with Offensive Slogans

Make The Cut!

Wanting a stylish change to your look but don't know what to do?
Why not take a page out of the celebrity hair trend of the moment and make the cut.

Several celebrities have been swapping out their long locks for shorter, stylish dos. Whether a bob, concave cut or shoulder length hair, a shorter hair cut is creating a sophisticated look for several A-list celebrities of the moment.

Having long hair myself, I am eager for a change but unsure if I'm ready for it!
Is it time to make the cut?

Style File : Sofia Vergara

The sassy, loud and vivacious Sofia Vergara has exploded onto our television screens, best known for her current role as Gloria Pritchett on Modern Family.

The fourty year old actress has also made headlines for her figure-hugging outfits and occasional wardrobe malfuctions. Steadily becoming a style icon in her own right, Sofia's red carpet fashion exudes sexiness and shows off her hour-glass figure. She also brings sexy to her street wear, incorporating either high heels or tight fitting denim.

Below are some of Sofia's most memorable outfits:
